Jason Adams is Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Global Center for Advanced Studies, as well as a GCAS professor. He focuses on programs, infrastructure and media for GCAS, as well as faculty and student affairs. He also teaches in the Department of Communication at Grand Valley State University and has held a Visiting Assistant Professorship at Williams College (2011-2012). He holds two Ph.Ds: the first from the University of Hawaii in Political Science (2010), the second in Media & Communication from the European Graduate School (2012). Adams publishes regularly in both popular press and academic venues, including Radical Philosophy, In These Times, Critical Inquiry and Z Magazine. From 2004-2010, he was Managing Editor for the journal Theory & Event, before co-editing the volume Deleuze and Race (Edinburgh University Press, 2013) and founding Conatus Publishing, now the official publishing house for GCAS Press. Adams’s first book, Occupy Time: Technoculture, Immediacy and Resistance After Occupy Wall Street (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013), was inspired by the occupy movement, with which he became involved while teaching a few hours north of NYC’s Zuccotti Park at Williams College, in Western Massachussetts. Adams lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he is working on his second book, Remediating Belonging: a Media Archaeology of the Postwar Citizen-Subject.
